- Use the "Select a Jurisdiction" option in the top-left corner to filter between charges brought in the Juvenile Court, Superior Court, and Boston Municipal and District Courts. These jurisdictions are kept separate to avoid double-counting charges which may have originally been brought in a division of the Juvenile, Boston Municipal, or District Courts and later bound-over or indicted in Superior Court. 

District Court criminal jurisdiction extends to all felonies punishable by a sentence up to five years, and many other specific felonies with greater potential penalties; all misdemeanors; and all violations of city and town ordinances and by-laws. In felonies not within District Court final jurisdiction, the District Court conducts probable cause hearings to determine if a defendant should be bound over to the Superior Court. For offenses over which the District Court has final jurisdiction, please refer to M.G.L. c218 §26. For offenses over which the Juvenile Court has final jurisdiction, please refer to M.G.L. c119 §72.
